Work on site is progressing well. The development will be completed in phases and are at different stages in the development process. On phase 1 the service connections (water, drainage and electrics) have been made and the external works (such as the rendering, cladding and landscaping) are the main focus of works. On phase 2, all houses are now erected. On phase 3 (behind Tan Capel estate), these are the last set of houses to develop. All 52 homes will be complete in the summer of 2023, with phase 1 and 2 potentially being complete in Autumn 2022.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

An important part of ClwydAlyn’s commitment to building high quality affordable homes is to ensure that all partners involved, commit back to the local communities in which we work in a wide range of ways and in line with our poverty priorities. In turn, helping to enrich our communities by giving support where it’s needed, whether that’s helping people to get back into work, combating social isolation, supporting residents in fuel poverty, or providing access to nutritious food.

OUR MISSION: TOGETHER TO BEAT POVERTY

Our poverty priorities:

• • • •

Employment, training, education and volunteering (Increase) Food poverty (reduce) Fuel poverty (reduce) Digital Inclusion (increase)

WILLIAMS HOMES HELPING TO TACKLE FOOD POVERTY

Williams Homes has played a key role in the creation of a food provision outlet that tackles food poverty and food waste, giving back to the local community by supporting the establishment of Bwyd Da Môn.

Owain Williams at Williams Homes said: “Williams Homes were happy to support the development of Bwyd Da Môn an exciting new project utilising food that would otherwise to go to landfill to help alleviate food poverty on Anglesey. Our Land and Acquisitions Manager was involved in the inception and development of the project, and we were happy to support her during the development phase and to build and install a bespoke counter for the new premises.” www.bwyd-da-mon.org.uk/

SUPPORTING PEOPLE IN EMPLOYMENT

There are a number of apprentices at various stages in their NVQ with Williams Homes. David, one of their apprentices has recently finished his apprenticeship journey and is now a fully qualified joiner. Well done, David!

“ I started my apprenticeship in December 2020. I worked alongside experienced joiners as well as attending college once a week. I completed my apprenticeship in July 2022 with an NVQ Level 2 Joinery Qualification. This experience has given me the knowledge I need to advance in my joinery career as well as excel in life”.

“ The people here at Williams Homes are a pleasure to work with. The building industry is a new environment for me, and I totally appreciate their welcome and everyone’s help. I’m looking forward to getting involved as much as possible in the running of the site office”.

Nicola has recently joined the team at the Hen Ysgol y Bont site, following a referral from Môn CF (who support people to overcome barriers to employment).
